She has choreographed televised feature performances for America’s Got Talent, Her Majesty’s Royal Variety Performance, the illusionist Darcy Oake’s Edge of Reality, and several large scale fashion shows for Bench in the Philippines. In 2013, working with director Diane Paulus on a new vision of Pippin, she choreographed and wove circus into the revival of the Broadway musical. Gypsy’s work on Pippin earned her a Drama Desk Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. Gypsy began her circus career at the age of 4 when her parents founded The Pickle Family Circus. She grew up touring the West Coast with the company. In 2002, while in her home town of San Francisco she wrote and directed for The New Pickle Circus a show entitled Circumstance. Gypsy wrote and directed Ships in the Night, a gender blending contemporary musical dance revue for Richard Branson’s new Virgin Voyages cruise line. The 2020 televised UEFA Draft featured an 8-minute piece created and choreographed by Gypsy dedicated to the 12 participating cities of the season of European Football. Gypsy is also a guest teacher and guest director at the National Circus School of Montreal. In 2015, she received the Evolving Circus Award in New York City presented by Diane Paulus. Shana is well known for her acrobatic and circus choreography. She choreographed four gold medal winning numbers at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris. She has received Best Choreography nominations at the Drama Desk Awards (Traces) and the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Awards (Circumstance), and directed and choreographed Duel Reality, an immersive circus show based on Romeo and Juliet for Richard Branson’s new Virgin Voyages cruise line. Their first show was in May 1975, in the gymnasium of John O'Connell High School in San Francisco. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Circus performed on weekends in the San Francisco Bay Area during Spring and Fall, and toured for the 3 months in the Summer, mostly in towns along Highway 101 in Northern California and Oregon. In these years, the Pickles operated with a business model that every show was a benefit, usually for a local community organization. The local sponsor sold advance tickets (getting a portion of the revenue), did publicity and site preparation, and ran a midway. The Circus returned to the same towns year after year, and these events became an important source of funding for the sponsors. This freed the company from much of the advance work. From his place behind the bar at Zuni Cafe, David launched the original Z Collective, comprised of waiters, bartenders, and maitre d’s, producing a dozen shows over five years before morphing into The Z Space, which is still in operation in the Mission District. In that time, David began a long collaboration with monologist Josh Kornbluth, with whom he developed and directed new works for the stage including Ben Franklin: Unplugged, Love & Taxes, Citizen Josh, Andy Warhol: Good for the Jews?, Sea of Reeds, and staged the films Red Diaper Baby and Mathematics of Change in 2006. Carreiro has performed at theaters throughout the Bay Area, including Berkeley Repertory Theatre, American Conservatory Theater, The Magic Theater, The Aurora Theater, Word for Word, and Center Rep. She was nominated for The Shellie Award for Outstanding Actress in the role of Grace in The Sisters Matsumoto at Center Rep. Following in his brothers’ footsteps, he then continued his training at the National Circus School of Montreal. Since graduating, Dominic has worked for Cirque du Soleil, The 7 Fingers, Cirque Éloize, Midnight Circus, and co-founded the Back Pocket circus company in Belgium, co-creating and touring their first show La Vrille du Chat. San Francisco* and was an integral part of the show’s creation in 2021. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Melvin made his professional debut with local favorite Circus Flora at the age of 16, after training and performing with the youth troupe, the St. Louis Arches. He then went on to study and the National Circus School of Montreal, and right after graduation, Melvin joined The 7 Fingers in the original cast of Cuisine and Confessions, which then toured the world. Four years later, she joined Cirque du Soleil in KOOZA as a contortionist. With no other kids to play with, young Natasha entertain herself juggling during the show’s intermission. It was pure coincidence that Anthony Gatto, one of the best jugglers in the world, would warm up for his act at the same time. Anthony gave her a few tips, which soon led to daily training sessions. After five years of touring, she decided to pursue juggling at the National Circus School in Montreal. There she developed her theatre, dance, and love of music, while exploring a range of circus disciplines. In 2016,Natasha joined The 7 Fingers production, Reversible, and has remained part of the company’s ensemble. Additionally, she has performed at the Melbourne Fringe Festival, the International Juggler's Association Festival, and twice at the Periplo International Circus Festival. Michael discovered his love of performance on the streets of London and it quickly became his favorite hobby, performing in hundreds of street shows with the troupe.He studied theaterthroughout his academic career and graduated with a diploma inDrama. The two developed their creative vocabulary together in hand to hand, movement and aerial straps which then brought them to such international festivals as Circuba, Albacete, Princess Circus, and Young Stage. Over the last 5 years, her focus has been on honing her specialty, aerial straps, through intensive training at The National Circus Schools in both London and Montreal. Beyond performing, immersion in the world of fashion brings her immense joy; creating and sewing unique clothes and costumes that find utility in her performances to define her artistic signature. Zoe has performed in Montreal’s largest circus festival, Completely Circus, and in the latest London production from the UK based company Revel Pucks. After completing high school, she decided to pursue a more academic path in Communications and Marketing at the University of Lausanne. In 2018, she signed up at the Lausanne Circus School, where she trained throughout her three years of University. With that time and the generous encouragement of the circus school, she expanded her training to include hand balancing and aerial work.
